Abstract
High sensitivity isoelectric focusing generates supernumerary lactate dehydrogenase bands. Using a two-dimensional electrophoresis/isoelectric focusing technique, we showed that the supernumerary bands co-migrate with the five isoenzyme bands in conventional agarose gel electrophoresis. Pyruvate, but not other physiological ligands plays a role in generating supernumerary bands, probably by binding to the enzyme.
