Abstract
Recent technological advances have significantly transformed diabetes management, particularly with the emergence of automated insulin delivery (AID) systems combining continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps, and decision-making algorithms. These innovations, often integrated into telemedicine frameworks and enhanced by artificial intelligence, are reshaping the patient–physician relationship into a triadic interaction involving healthcare providers, patients, and technology. While these tools provide substantial clinical benefits and improve quality of life, they also raise important ethical challenges. This article explores these issues through the four fundamental principles of bioethics: beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice. The integration of diabetes technologies requires ongoing ethical reflection to ensure a balance between innovation, safety, patient autonomy, and equitable access, while preserving the human dimension of care.
