Abstract

The frequency of sports injuries of the hip and pelvis is higher in younger athletes. Some sports are at a higher risk for hip injuries. Hip arthroscopy is an accurate diagnostic and a minimally invasive therapeutic procedure offering the advantage of a short rehabilitation time. The present paper gives an overview of the indications and the technique of hip arthroscopy in athletes. Some case reports are presented, together with a clinical and radiological algorithm of hip pain in the athlete.
