Abstract

This paper considers an algorithm based on delta modulation incorporating a multi-bit G.711 codec and the novel second-order linear predictor, intended for speech signal encoding. The algorithm processes the input speech sample-by-sample, and fixed length codewords are generated at the system output. According to the analysis in the wide range of speech variances, it is shown that the considered algorithm with the proposed prediction model is an efficient solution for lower sampling rate.
