Real-time molecular surveillance to prioritize HCV treatment in injecting drug users

Project Details

Description

The objectives of our project are 1) to expand HCV testing of Intravenous Drug Users ( IDUs) via outreach projects and medical doctors prescribing OST and by recruiting social network of IDUs, 2) to intervene with patients at higher risk to transmit HCV by performing phylogenetic analyses of HCV sequences, 3) to prioritize IDUs for HCV treatment based on their willing to initiate a treatment and HCV phylogenetic transmission networks by offering DAA in the sites of injection/OST, 4) to monitor treatment uptake, adherence and efficacy and to strengthen prevention to prevent further reinfection in IDUs.
