Personal profile
Biosketch
With a background training in Biological Sciences, my main research interest is the discovery and validation of novel RNA biomarkers and therapeutic targets of multiple diseases including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. Addressing complex diseases requires a systemic approach, hence my goal to tackle brain-heart interactions, considering that “A good brain a good heart are always a formidable combination” (Nelson Mandela, April 1st, 1976). My research is translational and I believe that multidisciplinary collaborative work is key to a successful research. One of my professional goals is to bring together complementary expertise from clinicians, basic researchers, statisticians, bioinformaticians, systems biologists, data specialists and industrial partners towards the satisfaction of unmet medical needs. A further professional goal is the supervision and training of the next generation of scientists. Training students today creates the leaders of tomorrow’s research.
